Our owner, Mike Evans, was one of the very first to produce resin replicas and is considered by many to be the “Grandfather of the Garage Kit” industry having started Lunar Models in 1980. Lunar Models under Mike’s ownership produced over 230 Sci-Fi, Prehistoric animals, Aircraft, and AFV specialty model kits. These included licensed movie related kits from Lost in Space, War of the Worlds, 2001 a Space Odyssey, Vincent, the Three Stooges, etc. Lunar was the first company to produce a B-2 bomber and the first to make a modern non tail- dragging T-Rex.
Lunar was sold in 1996 and after a few years Mike formed The Alchemy Works, and has continued to produce high-tech replicas using the best sculptors like the noted Sean Cooper, Joe Laudati, Joe Simon, Chris Lynch, and Jeff Johnson.
Mike is now retired from the hands-on molding and casting, and this has been taken up by master mold makers and resin casters Todd Powell and Randy Guthrie.
Of note coming up in the near future, we will be bringing to modelers a 1/6th scale Time Machine ready to display model …this is a joint production with Executive Replicas!! This model will be fully lit, have a rotating dish! Also, for the ultimate treat a fully articulated and licensed Rod Taylor figure will be included in this very limited super collector item!
For the prehistoric model builder, we will be reissuing all of the discontinued Sean Cooper prehistoric mammals and will be adding to this line as well.
For the “B” Sci-Fi collector we will be adding a “Wasp Woman” model of her attacking the scientist and a new “Deadly Mantis” of the Mull Holland tunnel scene.
