- How long does it take to make a mold for
my project?
We can have the mold made within 10 working days of receiving the piece
to be molded -- or sooner !!
- How much will it cost to make the mold?
Each molding project is different and requires an examination of a drawing
or a picture with dimensions to be quoted. Email us with an attached photo
file (*.jpg) that includes dimensions for the fastest reply.
- How much will each casting cost?
Again this a factor of complexity and number of molds per piece as well
as the amount of resin used. Alchemy Works produces the highest possible
quality castings at very competitive prices!!
- Are Cold Cast Bronze castings more expensive?
Yes, by a factor of almost three times. The materials are considerably
more expensive, and mold wear is greater.
- What kind of castings can I make from a silicone
mold you make for me?
Polyurethane, plaster, hydrocal, cold cast bronze, cold cast porcelain,
wax and more.
- Can my figure or piece be made in a one piece
casting?
Usually the answer is yes -- in fact Alchemy Works is noted for its ability
to cast complicated and detailed pieces with radical undercuts in one
piece ! This is sometimes done at a cost, however, in that there is extra
stress on the mold which can reduce the effective mold life. Send a photo
and we can discuss the piece on an individual basis.
- What is the best material to make the master
from?
Materials like Sculpey, Promat or an epoxy putty are all great, also
plaster, wax, magic sculpt, wood and styrene.
- Will the master survive the molding process?
Not always - it depends on the piece and the kind of mold required. |
